Beauty Secrets of Westlake Emerald

The premier green tea from Hangzhou in China, Westlake Emerald is prized for it’s exceptionally refined flavour and scent. A less well known effect is the remarkable topical results when used in conjunction with it's beverage form.

Skin Food

Green tea can have amazing effects on your skin if you drink at least 1 cup a day. Drinking green tea helps reduce inflammation in the skin, which is great news for teens or adults with acne. Green tea’s powerful antioxidants are between 25 to 100 times more potent compared to vitamin C from citrus fruit. Green tea is also great for reducing insulin levels (therefore reducing the amount of sebum your skin produces) and for fighting acne caused by hormonal imbalances.

Reduce breakouts and scars

When used topically in conjunction with a daily cuppa, green tea can be even more effective. Green tea’s anti-inflammatory effect is going to soothe the skin and reduce the inflammation caused by acne. Green tea leaves contain anti-inflammatory polyphenols which can fight against a wide range of microbes and bacteria that cause acne, reducing breakouts and also acne scars.

Perfect Toner

A natural Westlake Emerald toner is easy to brew and a breeze to apply on your skin every day. Green tea contains ECGC, one of the most potent catechin compounds and by applying green tea toner on your face, acne induced inflammation can be greatly reduce. Brew a teaspoon of tea leaves in a cup of hot water for 10 minutes, strain and pour into a spray bottle or dab with a cotton pad, it’s that easy. Use within 3 days or store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Tea Mask

A green tea mask for your face can have enormous benefits, making skin softer and more supple. Use a spice grinder to pulverise 1 teaspoon of Westlake Emerald tea leaves. Add a heap teaspoon of raw honey (for dry skin) or aloe vera gel (for oily skin) to the green tea powder and then add a few drops of warm water carefully until you can mix it to a mask like consistency. Use a paintbrush with soft bristles and brush it on your face, neck and shoulders. Leave it on for at least 10 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water.

Facial Steaming

Adding teas and herbs to facial steam has been popular among those who champion natural and non-toxic skin care. It helps soften the skin, and increases the absorption of topical treatments. It can also improve circulation. There is a centuries-long tradition of using floral and herbal steams in beauty rituals with green tea and white tea topping the benefits list for the beauty treatment.

Make yourself a cup of hot green or white tea and pour into a large bowl. Place your face about 12 inches away from the steam and drape a towel over your head. Steam your face for a minute, and then take a break for a few minutes. You can repeat this process several times. Alternatively, you can soak a clean wash cloth in the brew and apply it to your face. Repeat with another clean cloth. After your steam is complete, follow with a nourishing moisturiser.

Be prepared for compliments on how radiant your skin will look and how beautiful you’ll feel.
